Marriott's everyday earning looks better on paper (2× base vs. 1× for Hyatt), but remember: 2 Marriott points ≈ 0.7 Hyatt points in real-world hotel value. The Hyatt card's 4× at Hyatt properties effectively outperforms Marriott's 6× at Marriott when you account for point value.
Annual Free Night Certificates
Both cards come with an annual free night certificate on your card anniversary — this is typically the single most valuable ongoing perk.
World of Hyatt: one free night at any Category 1–4 property (valued up to 15,000 points, or roughly $100–$250 in hotel value depending on the property). Cat 4 Hyatts include places like the Hyatt Regency Savannah or Park Hyatt Beaver Creek — solid mid-tier destinations.

Elite Status
World of Hyatt Card automatically grants Discoverist status — Hyatt's entry-level elite tier. Discoverist perks include complimentary club access (where available), preferred room selection, and 10% bonus points on stays. You also earn 5 qualifying night credits per year just for holding the card.
Marriott Bonvoy Boundless automatically grants Silver Elite status, Marriott's entry tier. Silver includes 10% bonus points and late checkout (subject to availability). You also receive 15 qualifying night credits per year, which meaningfully accelerates the path to Gold Elite (25 nights) — a much more valuable tier with room upgrades and breakfast at some properties.
